Former pit mine of the Alderland Trade Guild. Now it scratches out an existence as being the last stop before traveling to the Bitter Reach or the first stop when arriving from the Bitter Reach. Once a year due to the snow melting off the lower slopes of the Bitter Reach Mountain range, water begins to slowly fill the pit mine. Exacerbated by the sudden rain storms of Springrise, the town puts out a challenge to any rider or runner that feels they are capable to race to the bottom of the mile 4 miles down to recover a metal skull said to be the encased skull of the head of Alderland Trade Guild mining operation in town. The winner gets a large reward in the form of gear and equipment crafted by former members of the local tradesmans guilds.
¶ Places in Town
- Last Hearth - the town's tavern, inn, and general store. Built in the former HQ and Mansion of the Alderlandian mine manager.
- The Open Market - during the lead up to and during the race, an area of temporary market stalls bigs to be built by traveling merchants and cooks who are there to cater to the racers and spectators.
¶ Forgeholm Pit
A pit mine that goes more than 3 miles into the earth. It is said that in the depths and heat of the belly of the mine strange unnerving noises and shadows can torment the mind to the brink of insanity.
