The Rust Brothers call the Protector god Rust and his wife Heme. They worship rusty idols and crude wooden figurines that represent the gods. The figurines are roughly hewn and cannot be too detailed because that would be an insult to the perfect form of the gods. The Brothers spread their word throughout the villages and help the faithful, while those who doubt are converted by force. It is said they have ties with demonic forces.
They have an ongoing inuqisition to seek out the hidden Raven Sisters and wipe them out of the Ravenlands
Their power is weaker the further from Alderstone you travel.
a group of life-affirming witches who remain the core of the church in the Forbidden Lands. Since the Raven Sisters help with everything from harvesting and hunting to ailments, love and childbirth with their spells, rituals and potions, they are very popular in the villages. They roam the land, always on their guard, since there are informants everywhere, and the Rust Brothers pay anyone who captures a sister for them well.
They once had a hidden outpost in the Scathmire swamp; while the Blood Mist still infested the lands. It stood along side the Draftbarrow House and was there when the fishing village was renamed as Port of Scathmire.
A group of local loggers that are independant contractors that do not owe allegience to any merchant. They advocate for local loggging efforts despite increased costs. Suspected of spreading leaflets about the evils of the lumber being imported by the Merchant League.
They often hire outsiders to help with the lumber orders they get.
A lot of carpet bagging business people moving in to the expanding city to get in at the ground floor and see how much control they can hoard for themselves in the process of funding the expansion of the city. Not all merchants in the city are part of the guild and not all memebrs of the guild are out for profit over people. However, the Guild's members recieve steep discounts on importing goods and raw materials sold by the guild's other members.
The people that are working the dangerous job of dredgint the bay to expand the small port and allow a larger number of ships (and larger sized) ships to arrive at the port. The project is funded by the Merchant League, but the Pitmen Union handle all the labor and engineering. They formed after rogue merchants with more money than sense took it upon themselves to
This is the name given to the mysterious beings that that dedicate themselves to keeping the Lantern Towers lit in the Blush. These towers guide travelers through the dangerous maze of canyons that must be navigated to venture further inland along the Elya River. Little is known of them. The towers are on sheer cliffs with no clear method of entry. The people of Scathmire believe they are there since the guiding lights remain lit.
The 4 member group (two halflings and two goblins) that manage the operation of the Splintertooh Stop and decide what should be done with all their profits. Not known to leave the Splintertooh Stop, not because they hide from the public, more they don't feel they need to since everything they want is there or can be ordered in.
